St. Paul’s Episcopal School
In the heart of Lakeview, St. Paul’s Episcopal School looked to Woodward Design+Build to provide them with a new preschool building and new gymnasium to provide top notch facilities to their staff and student body. The Dunn Educational Building is a 4185 square foot building designed with the needs of preschoolers in mind. The project involved many specialized features including extensive customer millwork for counters and cabinets. The Gymnasium is a 20,000 square foot building that features the gym and basketball facilities on the first floor and classrooms on the second floor, including a state of the art music room.
When Hurricane Katrina hit the City of New Orleans, St. Paul’s and its surrounding Lakeview neighborhood were deluged by a 12 foot wall of water when the surrounding levee system failed. The school sat in 6 feet of water for over 3 weeks and suffered catastrophic devastation. Based on the excellent client relationship that had been developed, St. Paul’s chose Woodward to repair and renovate these damaged buildings after the storm. Woodward is proud that so many of our previous clients turned to us after the storm to help rebuild their damaged facilities.
