Redemptorist Elderly Apartments

Woodward Design+Build completed this renovation and rehabilitation of three historical buildings located in the New Orleans Historic Irish Channel. The buildings now accomodate 107 elderly apartment units in approximately 90,000 square feet. The project included the authentic restoration of the unique plaster architectural products used early in the 20th century which help preserve these buildings’ historical value. Completed amenities include on site dining facilities, community spaces, a restored historic chapel, and an open air courtyard. Additionally, the interior restorations included refinishing the original wood floors and interior wood trim. The exterior historic restoration included brick facades, original doors and windows, historic iron fencing, all landscaping, and the repair of the Redemptorist cast iron Jesus statue to meet all National Park Service specifications. Construction also included updates to the buildings’ elevators, security systems, on site sanitary disposal systems, and sub-surface utilities.
