Clarke Parking Garage
The 86,700 square feet addition to the existing Clarke Parking Garage provides an additional 240 parking spaces. The front half of the ground floor features a future retail area of approximately 1,800 square feet. The new addition features two new passenger elevators that are available to the existing patrons.
The garage was constructed with auger cast pile, structural steel skeleton, with metal and concrete decking. Concrete masonry units were utilized to provide the fire rating at the adjoining property lines and precast concrete panels were erected at the Gravier Street facade. Precast panels were also used as the elevator shaft and roof. The precast facing Gravier Street are embellished with an exterior insulation finish system to provide depth at the columns and around the openings. The remaining flat area of the precast panels have a colored final coat of the EIFS system applied to blend in with the embellished areas to provide an overall similar look. The colors selected help differentiate the new structure from the existing adjoining structures.
The entrance to the retail area is adorned with a replica of the existing ornamental crest that was demolished with the existing structure. The remainder of the ground floor openings are enclosed with bronze metal and glass storefront with awnings above each opening. The sidewalks have been redone with brick pavers in a herringbone pattern.
