Palace Cafe’

Woodward Design+Build was privileged to be selected by the Brennan family and Architect Stewart Farnet to work on the renovation of the historical Canal Street Werlein Building, into a new two-story restaurant to be named the Palace Cafe’. Work involved including complete revamping of the rear building area for the rear entrance and total kitchen space and demolishing for the atrium area in the second floor to allow for first and second floor seating as well as an atrium overlooking the first floor space. Renovation of the third and fourth floors allowed for expansion as well as administrative space, and air conditioning equipment located on the rear building second floor roof.

A new monumental stair was fabricated and erected for access to the second floor. An existing elevator was refinished, a complete new kitchen facility with interior windows viewing the kitchen operation was installed on the first floor in the rear building, and the finished dining spaces on both first and second floors were completely reworked to form an attractive setting for dining suitable to the Brennan family style. Woodward Millworks completed all of the interior “booth” seating as well as a new bar and wainscot around the entire area.
