Loyola University Cabra Hall

Woodward Design+Build was chosen as the general contractor for a major renovation of Loyola University’s Cabra Hall. This was the first ever major renovation of the facility since the school had acquired the building in 1984. Work involved the complete gut and renovation of the existing 5-story concrete structure dormitory, requiring an extensive amount of work before the student move-in date.

The renovated Cabra Hall offers Sophomore through Senior students modern, apartment-style living. The 163 bed residence hall has both single and double bedroom units that feature their own kitchens and unique movable furniture. The facility features many premium amenities, including a fitness center. Security for students is a top priority with security cameras and blue light call boxes. An exterior curtain wall on the building acts as both an architectural feature and as a means to block weather from the elevator bank.

The renovation of Cabra Hall was designed and built to LEED Certification standards, with numerous sustainable features such as low-flow water fixtures, energy efficient lighting and dedicated recycling areas located on each floor.
