Laitram - Final Gap Expansion

Woodward Design+Build, has been Laitram’s Contractor of choice for the past 14 years and the relationship was continued with the design and building of the Laitram Final Gap Expansion. Woodward Design+Build worked with HMS Architecture, Woodward Steel, and Butler Building Company in the design of a state of the art Structural Steel, Metal and Concrete Wall panel building that maximized the space by extending the Intralox production lines an additional 120 feet. This additional plant area was constructed to allow for additional injection molding machines which have increased the plant’s capacity.

Work involved a 30,200 sf expansion to there existing facility including a self supporting steel structure, new mechanical / HVAC systems, electrical systems, two new overhead cranes, utility catwalks, and an expanded warehouse/ truck dock area. The challenge of constructing this new facility was that it is directly connected to the continuous 24hrs/ 7days a week operating plant facility. Woodard Design+Build was able to construct the expansion without impacting the productivity of the existing operation. The project was completed on time and below budget.
