141st Readiness Center at Jackson Barracks

The Louisiana National Guard looked to Woodward Design+Build to provide the 141st with a new readiness center following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. The project consisted of the demolition of an existing building that was located on Claiborne Ave. for the location of the new 141st Readiness Center on the Jackson Barracks Campus. In addition to the Readiness Center, there is a new Central Plant which feeds several buildings located between St. Claude and Claiborne Ave, and the renovation of the existing operation and maintenance building in a separate location on the campus.

Design began September, 2006 and the project was completed in October 2009.
The Readiness Center is a four story, 112,000 square feet structural steel and brick veneer building. The build exterior has cast stone as well as the structure is designed to meet all military requirements. The building was designed and built to LEED standards and is currently undergoing the certification process.

The exterior of the new Central Plant is coordinated to match the 141st Readiness Center exterior as well as an adjacent building constructed under a seperate contract.
