Hyatt French Quarter

Located on the bustling corner of Iberville and Bourbon, the Hyatt French Quarter is an elegant renovation of an existing 4 story hotel. Woodward Design+Build renovated this building for a joint venture between Carey-Watermark Investors and HRI Properties. The project included upgrades to 254 guest rooms, the hotel exterior, lobby, meeting areas, landscaping, pool and deck. Throughout Woodward’s construction process, the hotel remained open and operational, accommodating visitors and generating revenue in one of New Orleans’ most iconic neighborhoods.

The ground floor lobby, bar and restaurant were completely gutted and rebuilt to fit the updated design of the hotel. This newly renovated first floor was built out to house an upscale cocktail lounge called Batch, a market-inspired lobby restaurant known as Powdered Sugar, and the award-winning Red Fish Grill. Additionally, 10 individual meeting rooms were given new paint, wallcovering, carpet and light fixtures, enabling the Hyatt to accommodate a wide range of meetings and events.

The 254 guest rooms on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors were given a modern look with new paint, carpet, hardware, light fixtures, furniture and a completely remodeled bathroom. The existing mechanical system was updated with 9 new roof top units to provide conditioned air in all corridors, ensuring guest comfort. Adding to the 2nd floor of the hotel are 2 courtyards. The first courtyard contains a pool, complete with new liner and equipment, and an outdoor bar that was completely gutted and refurbished. The new quartz countertops, tile façade, stainless steel drink rail, canvas awning, televisions and ceiling fans bring a modern setting to the outdoor space. The second courtyard is impeccably landscaped, renovated with high quality roof patching, paver leveling and waterproofing. This courtyard makes the Hyatt French Quarter a desirable venue for special functions, weddings and reunions.

The exterior of the building was also completely updated by Woodward. In addition to an exceptionally durable Modified Bitumen roofing system, new paint and sealants present a fresh façade on all four surrounding streets. New trim boards and integral color PVC decking enhance all 35 balconies where hotel guests can take in the sights and sounds of the French Quarter. Altogether, the renovations completed by Woodward have established the Hyatt as a stately cornerstone of the historic French Quarter.
