Merryl & Sam J. Israel Jr. Environmental Science Building Tulane University

A Six-Story Concrete Structure, Tulane University’s Environmental Science Building is located south of the Stern Science Center and is attached by two pedestrian bridges located on the third and fourth floors. The second and fifth floors contain eight large teaching classrooms, along with sixteen laboratories on the third and fourth floors. In addition, there are eighteen faculty office spaces and three conference rooms located on the third, fourth, and fifth floors. The sixth floor is dedicated to all of the elevator, mechanical, electrical, and control equipment needed to operate the facility.

The renovation of the existing Alcee Fortier Building is part of this project. The facility was renovated and brought up to all current state fire codes.

The Environmental Science Building won the AIA New England Merit Award, NCBC 2001 Award of Excellence Merit Award, and the American School and University Outstanding Project (Post-Secondary) award.
