Flint Goodridge Apartments
This project involved the renovation of the original historic buildings of the Flint Goodridge
Hospital complex into 89 elderly apartment units. The interior work included the apartment units, laundry facilities, leasing offices, and community lounge totaling 73,000 square feet. This renovation included the rehabilitation of the existing units and accessory spaces in the residential buildings totalling approximately 73,000 square feet into elderly apartments.
Additional renovations included the leasing office, community space, and rehabilitation of the existing surface parking and sidewalks. The project also included the preservation of the existing trees on the property in addition to new landscaping and sidewalks. Key consideration was given to the exterior design which included the rehabilitation of the exterior facade originally built in the early 1900’s in the Central City area of New Orleans. This included the repair of the stucco and brick all while preserving the original historical doors and windows to compliment the surrounding buildings of the neighborhood. New landscaping was added to give the area a park like atmosphere for social interaction and maintain pedestrian and vehicular traffic within and around the site.
