Commander’s Palace

After the devastating effects of Hurricane Katrina, Woodward Design+Build was selected to restore the world renowned restaurant Commander’s Palace. In a time when there was a severe labor shortage due to the effects of the storm, Woodward Design+Build was able to assemble a qualified workforce to complete the job. Some of the major hurdles Woodward overcame during this complete restoration were new structural steel beams to re-support the historic house and renovate this antiquated building to current building codes. The renovation to the existing space was challenging due to the involved plumbing and electrical systems, expanded kitchen exhaust system and advanced cooking line.

With all the major components restored, Commander’s Palace introduced an exciting new decor to the restaurant. From the extravagant millwork to the dramatic wall covering, Woodward Design+Build provided the skills that were needed on this detail oriented job. Woodward Design+Build completed these tasks in such a manner that allowed Commander’s Palace to open for business as soon as possible following the hurricane.
