Children’s Hospital NICU

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Children’s Hospital provides specialized medical care for newborns suffering from prematurity and neonatal respitory distress. This 21-bed project included the interior construction of an NICU on the existing unfinished 5th floor of the emergency room building. The work consisted of new medical gas, plumbing, ductwork, and electrical systems. Work had to be conducted in a manner as not to disturb or disrupt patients care in the adjacent areas. To this end the site had to be accessed completely from an exterior construction elevator. This project was very complex, including elaborate finishes and custom millwork.
