925 Common St. Apartments
Listed on the Register of Historic Places, 925 Common occupies part of the historic Shell building in New Orleans’ Central Business District, adjacent to the Fairmont Hotel. Originally a 14-story office building, the build-out included an indoor parking garage occupying the basement and first three floors. The 108 one- or two-bedroom units have ceiling heights of 10 to 14 feet and contain such amenities as granite countertops and high speed internet and wi-fi capability. Within the building are a business center, fitness center, and 11,500 square feet for future restaurant and retail space.
The project was due to be completed by first quarter of 2006; however, Hurricane Katrina affected the construction schedule. Ironically, 925 Common was recently opened to the public and was the first residential development to open in the CBD following Hurricane Katrina.
