A New Orleans native, John joined Woodward in 2004. He has experience that extends into all areas of construction, including project management and estimating. John has practiced as a design build architect since 2000 with projects ranging from historic renovations to new construction. During his time at Woodward, John has worked on numerous projects including the Hurricane Restorations of Tulane University and Dillard University as well as the design of the new Holy Trinity Catholic Church (Diamonhead, MS). He has served as the architect of record on such projects as the core and shell improvements to Benson Tower (LEED Certified goal – review pending), the design build of the Louisiana National Guard's 141st Readiness Center at Jackson Barracks, the conversion of the Bultman Funeral Home on St. Charles Avenue into a Borders Books, the design of the New Orleans Mosquito, Termite & Rodent Control Center, Redemptorist Apartments hurricane restoration, Flint Goodrich Apartments hurricane restoration, the new Eric Hill Nissan Dealership, Redemptorist Seelos Center, a new chemistry research laboratory building for Tulane University (LEED Silver goal), and the conversion of a 100-year old elementary school campus into an assisted living facility (LEED Certified goal).
John received an athletic scholarship to play football and baseball at Rhodes College in Memphis, TN, and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Art in 1996. During his college athletic career, John was named to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference All Conference Teams in 1992, 1993, and 1995 (football) and 1996 (baseball). John was a team captain for the ’95 football team and ’96 baseball team, his senior seasons. In 1999, John went on to earn a Master of Architecture from Tulane University, and received an AIA Certificate of Merit for Excellence in the Study of Architecture.
John has architecture licenses in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, and Texas. He is a LEED Accredited Professional and a member of the United States Green Building Council. John is also a member of the National Council of Architecture Registration Boards (NCARB) and The American Institute of Architects (AIA), Woodward’s Team Building Committee, and Woodward Toastmasters.
In addition to serving on the Principal’s Advisory Board, John regularly volunteers his time and services to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and School throughout the year. John is a member of the Rhodes College Alumni Association, New Orleans Chapter and remains involved with Archbishop Shaw High School Alumni Association. For the past 15 years, John has also served as a volunteer coach in local youth athletic programs. He has also produced artwork for Thomas & Betts Corporation, The New Orleans Hispanic Heritage Foundation, and numerous private commissions and charitable organizations.
