During the construction of the Tulane Environmental Sciences Building in 1999, Johann joined Woodward as a Field Intern. Upon graduation, he joined the engineering department as an entry level structural engineer intern. His design experience includes the renovation and new construction of a wide range of commercial projects including car dealerships, warehouses, hotels, multi-family apartments, educational institutions, multistory office buildings, parking garages, and healthcare facilities. In 2007, he became the Division Manager of Woodward Engineering Group. During this time, Woodward Engineering Group has continued to expand in staff and resources to meet the growing demands of Woodward Design+Build.
In addition, Johann also manages Woodward’s Virtual Design and Construction endeavors. The group is comprised of Virtual Construction Coordinators, who have architecture and engineering degree backgrounds and are skilled in various BIM (Building Information Modeling) software programs. Woodward uses our Virtual Design and Construction capabilities as an internal resource for preconstruction, operations, and the field crews of Woodward Design+Build. Johann is responsible for promoting BIM internally by educating staff, leading the strategic implementation, development, and deployment of BIM, addressing RFP’s and managing clients’ BIM expectations, maintaining an understanding of the BIM trends of the industry, and manages teams comprised of VCC’s. Our Virtual Design and Construction teams also makes use of Woodward’s BIMnasiumsm , a room specially designed for virtual coordination.
Johann is a registered professional engineer in Louisiana. He is also a LEED Accredited Professional. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the United States Green Building Council, and is a volunteer member of Jefferson Parish’s Technical Evaluation Committee. Johann received a Master of Engineering in 2003 and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering in 2000 from Tulane University, and is a graduate of Jesuit High School in New Orleans.
