Sustainability
At Woodward Design+Build we believe that sustainable design and building techniques offer a way to serve clients with buildings that exceed their expectations, meet their needs and remain environmentally sensitive.
Woodward's goal is to be the leading builder in regards to to LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) construction in this region. This whole-building approach to sustainable design incorporates five areas of environmental and human health -- including site, indoor air, water, energy, and materials -- and reflects a responsibility to the environment and our communities.
Woodward Design+Build is a proud member of the U.S. Green Building Council. Members of our design and construction teams receive the latest training and education on sustainable techniques, giving us the ability to improve a building’s performance through all phases of design, construction, and client use. In turn, we educate our clients about how these techniques can benefit their building’s construction and cost of operations and improve the quality of life for the people who will occupy it.
In 2011, the Dillard University Professional Schools Building was awarded LEED Gold Certification by the United States Green Building Council. Other sustainable projects that may earn LEED Certification include Louisiana National Guard's 141st Readiness Center, the Marine Corps Support Facility, New Orleans, Tulane University Weatherhead Hall , Benson Tower and Woodward's New Office Building. In fact, Woodward's new building includes many sustainable features that we expect will earn it a LEED Silver Certification, including a green roof, extensive natural daylighting and the largest solar array in the City of New Orleans at 60kw.
