Safety Director

Woodward Design+Build is searching for a Safety Director to join our firm.

Job Summary

Oversee and manage the day to day safety requirements on all projects and of all employees

Relationships

The Safety Director reports directly to the Corporate Counsel.

Accountable to the Safety Director are the following positions:

Safety Coordinator
Project Superintendent - Indirectly

Responsibilities

*Creating and maintaining a safety program for office, warehouse and field operations - Goals should be to get Woodward’s EMR to .5 with OSHA recordable and 300 logs well within the most stringent plant requirements.
*Identifying and implementing safety training programs
*Identifying and implementing programs that would affect the safety attitude of Woodward employees
*Identifying and implementing programs that would affect the safety attitudes of subcontractors
*Identifying and implementing safety training programs to address the employee educational needs identified by corporate managers
*Identifying and reviewing other notable safety programs
*Keep OSHA recordables within limits to allow us to work in the most stringent plants
*Making sure a close relationship is developed with the engineering group of our worker’s compensation insurer.
*Identify effective safety incentive programs for management consideration.
*Supervising other Woodward safety manager(s).

Computer Skills Needed

Fundamental knowledge of computer operations and the following applications: Lotus 123/Excel and MS Word.

Technical Skills Needed

Construction techniques, negotiating, abundant safety knowledge and training.
