Woodward Steel Group has worked on numerous projects for the New Orleans Saints and Owner Tom Benson. When the Saints decided to construct an indoor practice facility, Woodward Steel Group was the obvious choice to help realize this vision and help meet many of the specific requirements such a facility entails.

One of the unique features of a NFL indoor practice facility is the sheer size and height required. Over 132,000 square feet with the main practice field having no obstructions or supports and the height to allow for kicking practice as well. The facility is 220’x440’x60’ at the eave with 80’ at the peak. Woodward Steel Group approached this complicated erection using modular. What made this uncommon was that the roof was sheeted on the ground and then erected every other bay. This exposed the crews to half the height of the roof. This process saved weeks on the schedule which allowed the project to come in ahead of schedule.

Today, this home for the World Champion New Orleans Saints has allowed for numerous successful training camps to be held at the facility instead of at remote locations. In addition, the team has been able to continue practices despite inclement weather and excessive heat.
