141st Readiness Center at Jackson Barracks

This new construction marks a rebirth of Jackson Barracks while also providing a new home for the 141st Washington Artillery.

The Louisiana National Guard looked to provide the 141st Washington Artillery with a new Readiness Center following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. Construction began in September of 2006 and the project was completed in October of 2009.

The project consisted of designing the new Readiness Center and Central Plant. The new Central Plant feeds several buildings located between St. Claude and Claiborne Ave. This facility was not only designed to meet all of the military’s special construction requirements, but also was designed and built to LEED Standards and is currently undergoing the certification process.

The Readiness Center is a 4 story, 112,000 square foot structural steel and brick veneer building. The exterior of the new Central Plant was designed to match the Readiness Center.
