Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church
Pass Christian, MS is the location of a new facility for the Diocese of Biloxi, combining three parishes into the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Incorporating input from the church committee, Woodward Design Group created a country-style church with a pure white building façade. The building’s position on site and the large amounts of exterior light give it a dramatic, large appearance for passerby. The dormer, created to meet the wishes of the church committee, provides additional light into the open sanctuary. Unique aspects of the church were maintained by moving stained glass windows from the old facility into the new building.
The absence of fixed seating allows the facility to accommodate a wide range of uses. The church not only houses a worship area but also incorporates multi-use classrooms for Sunday school as well as a kitchen and dining area. Looking toward the future, the site includes room to grow, ensuring opportunity for future buildings related to church activities.
Construction of the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church required Woodward’s team to solve many specific challenges. The lack of city water supply presented the task of burying a huge holding tank with a pump house, in order to provide the facility with adequate water. The structure itself was a feat of obtaining high ceilings and a cathedral appearance. Sound was another major factor, as the building had to compensate for echo and, at the same time, reach the congregation in the back of the sanctuary. Additional accomplishments were necessary to fulfill code requirements associated with building assembly and food service.
A thoughtful design process and high quality construction led to the completion of this project. Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church offers a flexible, multi-use worship facility for the Pass Christian, MS community.
