2101 Louisiana Avenue

Located at 2101 Louisiana Avenue, The Dr. Everett and Melva Williams Building is an apartment building providing housing for those who are formerly homeless or low income, with preference for homeless veterans. Woodward Design+Build acted as general contractor on this 42 unit multifamily project.

In what was previously an underutilized building, Woodward completed a total renovation of the 5-story concrete structure on a constrained site to create a 49,444 square foot residential building. During construction, the Woodward team completely renovated the interior space, modifying stairwells and walls and adding in a new elevator and MEP systems. The exterior panel design was modified during the construction process. The U-shaped building has both a first floor exterior patio and second floor deck located over the first floor parking garage.

The renovated residential complex includes a leasing area, fitness rooms and community rooms, as well as on-site case management, computer labs and 24/7 security. Many of these amenities serve the purpose of helping residents live independently and maintain stable housing. This is yet another step towards fighting homelessness in the City of New Orleans.
