Steel Group

New Orleans Saints Indoor Training Facility

Woodward Steel Group played a critical role in the construction of an indoor training facility for the New Orleans Saints. The project involved many specific requirements that Woodward Steel Group helped meet.

The NFL indoor practice facility is over 132,000 square feet in size, with no obstructions or supports on the main practice field to allow ample room for kicking practice. The facility is 220 × 440 × 60 feet at the eave and 80 feet at the peak. Woodward Steel Group used a modular approach to handle this complicated erection. The roof was sheeted on the ground and then erected on every other bay, exposing the crews to half the height of the roof. This process saved weeks on the schedule, allowing the overall project to come in ahead of schedule.

The completed Saints Indoor Training Facility has hosted numerous successful training camps and has enabled the team to continue practices indoors during inclement weather and excessive heat.
